Born in Rome, he studied conducting, competition and trumpet at the Conservatoire in L’Aquila before joining the Civica Scuola di Musica »Claudio Abbado« in Milan. He then started working as an assistant to Fabio Luisi at places including the Met in New York. Last season he took up the posts of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of Lithuanian National Opera in Vilnius, where he has conducting works including La Bohème, Il barbiere di Siviglia and I Capuleti e i Montecchi. This young musician has worked with many renowned singers, including Elīna Garanča, Sondra Radvanovsky, Piotr Beczala and Roberto Alagna. Recent engagements have included Le nozze di Figaro in Verona, La traviata and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Don Carlo in Las Palmas, Tosca in Piacenza, La gazza ladra in Lisbon and Mercadante's Francesca da Rimini in Tokyo. He has worked with orchestras including the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Budapest and Orchester LaVerdi in Milan and in concert at the Bolschoi in Moscow, the National Opera in Riga and Teatro Comunale in Bologna. He conducted Verdi's Un giorno di regno, Vaccaj's Giulietta e Romeo and, last summer, two rarities: Offenbach's Coscoletto and Manfroce's Ecuba, at the Festival della Valle d'Itria. Future plans include Carmen in Florence and L’elisir d’amore at the Tirol Festival in Erl and Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse. He is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt with this new production of Rossini's Otello.
