The Italian flautist Matteo Cesari is much sought after around the world as a soloist and chamber musician. He studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, won many prizes including the Kranichsteiner Music Prize and is passionate about contemporary music. He has worked with many composers and artists including Salvatore Sciarrino, Brian Ferneyhough, Pierre Boulez, Péter Eötvös, Matthias Pintscher, Tito Ceccherini, Ivan Fedele, Stefano Gervasoni, Bruno Mantovani, Michael Finnissy and Pierluigi Billone, the baritone Stéphane Degout, soprano Barbara Hannigan and harpists Anneleen Lenaerts and Émilie Gastaud. He has also appeared in concert with the BBC Scottish Orchestra and Ensemble intercontemporain. Matteo Cesari teaches in London, Melbourne, Shanghai and Tokyo and assists Salvatore Sciarrino in composition classes at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
