Vuyani Mlinde joined the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2010/11. During our 2015/16 season his roles include Bartolo in Die Hochzeit des Figaro/Le nozze di Figaro, Raimondo in Lucia die Lammermoor, Maschinist in Die Sache Makropulos/The Makropoulos Case, a role in a new production of Handel's Messiah and Donner in Das Rheingold. This South African artist's roles in Frankfurt in recent seasons have included the Speaker (Die Zauberflöte), Casino Director (Der Spieler/The Gambler), Der Hohepriester/High Priest (Enescu's Oedipe) and Pluto (Telemann's Orpheus). Conductors with whom this former member of Opera Queensland and Covent Garden's opera studios has worked include Antonio Pappano, Daniel Oren and Semyon Bychkov. Other places where he has performed have included the Edinburgh International Festival (in Verdi's Macbeth), Grange Park Opera (in Prokofiev's Love for Three Oranges), Oviedo Opera, Cincinnati Opera and Houston Grand Opera. Vuyani Mlinde's recent concert work has included Haydn's Creation under John Eliot Gardiner in the Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Pisa Festival and Beethoven 9 with the London Symphony Orchestra in Paris, Madrid and London.
