The Swedish/American soprano Erika Sunnegårdh is back to repeat her wonderful portrayal of Senta in this revival of Der Fliegende Holländer/The Flying Ducthman at Oper Frankfurt, where she sang the title roles in Tosca and Euryanthe, and Leonore in Fidelio - all new productions – and Beethoven 9 in a Museums Concert. Recent engagements have included Regan (Reimann's Lear) at the Opéra National in Paris, Chrysothemis (Elektra), Senta and Norma in Wiesbaden and Senta and Salome at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw. She has also sung the Kaiserin (Empress, in Die Frau ohne Schatten) in Wiesbaden and at Oper Leipzig, Turandot at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Bregenz Festival. Future engagements include Eva in the world premiere of Fagerlund's Höstsonaten at Finnish National Opera in Helsinki. Highlights in her career to date have included Turandot and Leonore at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the title role in Salome at the Vienna, Munich and Dresden state operas, the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and for the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Mahler 8 with the Gewandhaus Orchester Leipzig under Riccardo Chailly and the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle and Verdi's Requiem under Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding and Alan Gilbert. Her first solo album, of music by Beethoven, Wagner and Strauss, was released in 2013. Erika Sunnegårdh also works as a Guest Professor at the Richard Wagner Konservatorium in Vienna.
