The Swedish contralto/mezzo-soprano Anna Larsson is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time. Recent engagements have included Waltraute / Erda (Wagner's Ring), Klytämnestra (Elektra) at the Vienna State Opera, Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica) at Covent Garden in London, Gaea (Daphne) in Toulouse, Kundry (Parsifal) in Bologna, Herodias (Salome) in Stockholm and the Waldtaube in Schönberg's Gurre-Lieder at the Nationale Opera Amsterdam. Last summer she sang Carmen at the Dalhalla Opera Festival in Sweden, which she brought into being. Future engagements include a return to the Staatsoper Berlin to sing Kundry in April 2017. Anna Larsson is well known for her extraordinary interpretation of Gustav Mahler's works, which she has sung all over the world with leading orchestras and conductors including the Berlin & Vienna philharmonic orchestras, the London & New York philharmonic orchestras, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, Esa Pekka Salonen, Daniel Harding, Vladimir Jurowski, Antonio Pappano, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Kurt Masur and Lorin Maazel.
