Dagmar Manzel

Berlin born Dagmar Manzel is one of Germany's most popular and successful actresses. She has accumulated many awards over the years, including the German Film Prize, the Adolf Grimme Prize, German Television Prize, German Acting Prize, a FAUST Prize for "Best Actress" and she was voted "Actress of the Year" by critics from the magazine Theater. She studied at the Ernst Busch Drama School in Berlin and, for nearly two decades, was one of the best known members of the Deutsche Theater Berlin, where she returns regularly as a guest. When she is not busy in theatre, film or television, Dagmar Manzel's passion is music. She has enjoyed a close relationship with the Komische Oper Berlin for many years - she took part in no less than three opera productions during their 2016/17 season, including Oscar Straus’ Die Perlen der Cleopatra/Cleopatra's Pearls. Next season she can be seen and heard as Golde in the new production of Anatevka. Several Komische Oper productions in which she took part have gone on tour to, amongst others, the Hamburg State Opera, Cologne Opera and the Staatsoperette in Dresden. Dagmar Manzel has thrilled audiences with recitals and concerts at the Hans-Otto Theater in Potsdam, the Deutsche Theater, Philharmonie in Cologne, the Konzerthaus and Philharmonie in Berlin, Cité de la Musique in Paris, London's Wigmore Hall and the Edinburgh International Festival. She sang and acted the title role in the world premiere of Helmur Oehring's Agota at Hessen's State Theatre in Wiesbaden - she will soon be taking part in the world premiere of his Der Vogel, weiß (Mit anderen Augen)/The Bird, knows (with other eyes), based on a poem by Johannes Bobrowski at Gut Böckel / Rödinghausen. She has performed the Friedrich Hollaender evening: MENSCHENsKIND (Universal) in many German cities and festivals.
