Stéphane Degout

Baritone

The French baritone Stéphane Degout appears in recital, concert and opera at leading venues around the world – he could be heard most recently as Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at the Royal Oper House Covent Garden in London and the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam under Ivor Bolton and in Mendelssohn's Elijah alongside Julia Kleiter in Bordeaux, conducted by Raphaël Pichon. He can be heard soon singing Monteverdi's Ulisse under René Jacobs at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels and the Theater an der Wien. One role which has shaped his image for many years, in many productions, is Debussy's Pelléas (Virgin Classics DVD available). Stéphane Degout's repertoire also includes rarities such as Francesco Bartolomeo Conti's Don Chisciotte in Sierra Morena and contemporary works including Philippe Boesman's Au monde. His discography includes Werther, Così fan tutte, La Bohème and the Brahms and Fauré requiems; his first solo album, Mélodies, of French song and Lieder, was released by Naïve Records. Stéphane Degout was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and voted »Singer of the Year« by the Victoires de la musique classique in 2012
