The Hawaiian baritone Quinn Kelsey sings the title role in this new production of Rigoletto at Oper Frankfurt, where he received enormous acclaim when he made his debut here in 2012/13 singing Guy de Montfort in a new production of Verdi's Les Vêpres siciliennes, which was followed by Enrico Ashton in Lucia di Lammermoor and a wonderful recital. He has thrilled audiences with Rigoletto, which he sings again soon at San Francisco Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, at the Opéra National in Paris, English National Opera in London, Zurich Opera, the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and in Santa Fe, Oslo and Honolulu. In recent seasons this winner of the Metropolitan Opera's 2015 Beverly Sills Artist Award also sang Conte di Luna (Il trovatore) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, where he made his debut singing Giorgio Germont (La traviata), a role he has sung at the Met, in Chicago, Toronto, San Francisco, Seoul and Zurich, theatres where he returns for productions in the future. Roles later in 2017 are Amonasro in Aida at the Chorégies d’Orange Festival, Athanaël in Massenet's Thaïs with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra under Sir Andrew Davis (Australian debut) and returns to the Met.
