Marc Soustrot is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he has conducted concert performances of Puccini's Edgar and La Rondine, and performances of Die Fledermaus, for this Debussy/Honegger double bill. During his time as Chief Conductor & Artistic Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique des Pays de la Loire (1976-1994), Beethoven Orchester Bonn (1995-2003) and Brabants Orkest Eindhoven (1996-2006) this French conductor built up a wide and varied repertoire. He has been Chief Conductor of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra since 2011/12 and took up the reins of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in 2015/16. His substantial discography, which includes many prize winning recordings, includes Honegger's Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher with the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona (2015 CD & DVD). Other theatres where Marc Soustrot regularly works include the opera houses in Madrid, Geneva, Brussels, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo and concert work has included appearances with the Staatskapelle in Dresden, the Bamberg Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, the English Chamber Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, amongst others. Recent operatic projects have included Gounod's Faust, Carmen, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung at Stuttgart Opera and Pelléas et Mélisande, directed by Àlex Ollé, at the Semperoper in Dresden. Marc Soustrot was made a Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur in 2008.
