Simone Young, one of the leading conductors in the world for many years, is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt. After studying in Sydney, where she was born, and working at Cologne Opera, Daniel Barenboim brought her to the Staatsoper in Berlin. Simone Young has since worked at all the world's leading opera houses. She was Intendant of the Hamburg State Opera, and General Music Director of its Philharmonische Staatsorchester, from 2005 - 2015. Her operatic and concert repertoire ranges from Mozart to Reimann. From early on in her career she was hailed as a wonderful Wagner and Strauss conductor, who has led Ring cycles in Hamburg and at the Vienna and Berlin state operas. Her achievements are documented on many CDs and DVDs. Since leaving Hamburg Simone Young has continued working regularly at the world's major opera companies and with many renowned orchestras. She made a tour of Japan in the autumn of 2016 and plans for 2017 include Elektra andTristan und Isolde in Munich,Tannhäuser in Berlin, Gounod's Faust and Parsifal in Vienna and concerts in Paris, Dresden, London and Barcelona.
