The Greek artist Constantinos Carydis is back at Oper Frankfurt where he conducted new productions of Xerxes, Carmen and the Dido and Aeneas / Herzog Blaubarts Burg (Bluebeard's Castle) double bill, which was also performed at the 2013 International Edinburgh Festival. These were preceded by a new Rake’s Progress and revivals of Werther and Die Zauberflöte. Recent enagements have included a new production of Die Zauberflöte with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Festival, Pélleas et Mélisande at the Munich Opera Festival and Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, who awarded him the 2011 Carlos Kleiber Prize. He has also conducted in places including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Vienna, Berlin and Athens state operas, the Komische Oper Berlin, Nationale Opera Amsterdam and Opéra Lyon. He conducts concerts soon with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in die Elbphilharmonie, the Berlin Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Belgique and Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala. He has also appeared with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Rome, the Munich Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgart and Vienna radio symphony orchestras and the Tonhalle in Zürich.
